The Minister of Labor and Social Security, José Carlos Oliveira, highlighted the positive balance of formal jobs generated in the industry in August for the third consecutive month.
In an interview to comment on the result of the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged) for the month, Oliveira added that this shows an important recovery in the industrial sector.
“The increase in employment in the industry contributes to raising the average of wages because the industry demands more qualified jobs”, he added.
In August, the industry opened 52,760 jobs and was the second sector with the highest net balance, behind only services, which registered the creation of 141,113 formal jobs.
Retail had a positive balance of 41,886 jobs in August, while there was a balance of 35,156 net hirings in construction. In agriculture, 7,724 jobs were created in the month.
Demonstration of stability
The Secretary of Labor and Welfare of the Ministry of Labor, Mauro de Souza, said that the positive balance of 1.853 million jobs generated this year demonstrates stability in job creation after the 2021 boom that was caused by the resumption of of hiring after the crisis generated by the coronavirus pandemic.
From January to August 2021, the country had 2.173 million formal openings. “In 2021 we were resuming after the pandemic, we knew we would not have the same numbers, but we now have a stable and positive scenario”, he added.
