Indonesian rescuers interrupted, on Friday (24), search efforts in a landslide that left at least 25 dead. The operations were stopped due to bad weather.
The number of deaths has been growing since Tuesday (21), when torrential rains have hit the city of Pekalongan, in the province of Java Central and triggered the landslide.
Hundreds of rescuers were sent to the area, and already on Wednesday (22) were seen using water to clean wreckage and dig up items such as motorcycles, buried in the mud.
“Since when I was a child, this was the first time I have lived a landslide,” said a 65 -year -old resident. “There was a time when it was just the wind that damaged people’s homes, it had never been as bad as now.”
