Risk of landslide prohibited to Rio-Santos between Ubatuba and Paraty

Due to the heavy rains that have been falling since the beginning of the week and the risk of landslides in the region, the concessionaire CCR RioSP blocked on Wednesday (21) both directions of the Rio-Santos Highway (BR-101) between the km 35, near Itamambuca beach, in Ubatuba (SP), and km 591, in the region of Paraty (RJ).

The interdiction of the road, managed by the concessionaire, started around 6 pm this Wednesday. The blockade has the help of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) of Rio de Janeiro, which, by means of a note, informs that the stretch will remain banned at least until the morning of this Thursday (22).

CCR, however, did not give a deadline and stated that a new analysis will be carried out, also this Thursday, before releasing the runway. The concessionaire explains that the action aims to “preserve the lives of drivers, avoiding accidents, since the place is susceptible to landslides, as happened in April of this year”.

The number of vehicles traveling through Rio-Santos usually increases at this time of year due to the end of year festivities. “The orientation is that the driver avoids traveling on the highway and, in case of emergency, stop at a service station. A new assessment should be carried out on Thursday, the 22nd, to analyze the possibility of releasing the section”, informed the CCR.

For more information about traffic conditions, drivers can use the concessionaire’s communication channels: (11) 2795-2238 / Dial CCR RioSP: 0800 017 3536 / App CCR Rodovias – CCR RioSP.
