The launch date of a unpublished book by Rita Lee : “The Myth of the Myth: from fan and crazy, everyone has a little bit”. A posthumous work will arrive in bookstores on July 29th and Globo Livros revealed the cover on its Instagram.
The text was started in 2005 and finished in 2019, however, the singer only allowed it to be published after her death — which happened in May 2023. Roberto de Carvalho, her last husband, said in a video on social media that he did not know of the existence of the work, which had the files that the singer sent him by email but he would not open.
In the plot, Rita Lee is one of three characters and passes by the office of a psychologist who works in an old house in the center of São Paulo, but only after sunset. “A singer searching for answers to a question that haunts her. And one rule: she can only enter the house alone”, says the caption of the publisher’s publication.
“I always thought Rita should write fiction. Because, in fact, fiction is already present in the composition of lyrics. The composition of lyrics always, or almost always, starts from an idea or some fact that happened, some experience that the person writing had”, commented Roberto de Carvalho.
With a preface by Guilherme Samora, responsible for reviewing her other books — “Rita Lee: An Autobiography” (2016) and “Rita Lee: Another Autobiography (2023)” —, the production is already on pre-sale at Amazon and hits bookstores on July 29th.
