Happy Birthday To You! “, wrote the singer on Twitter, joined to the producer and singer since the sixties, when their union caused a scandal due to the age difference – Teddy Reno was born on 11 July 1926, while Rita Pavone on 23 August 1945 – which the couple did not care at all, getting married in 1968. They met at the Festival of Strangers in Ariccia, organized by Reno and won by Pavone, in 1962: at the time he was 36 and she was 17, but this did not stop their love.
They have been married for 54 years, never a breakdown or an estrangement: “I met many women in my youth, but Rita was and is the only great love of my life”, Reno said in an interview in 2016, remembering his first kiss with his future wife as if it was yesterday. “We were in a fabulous cave, she asked me: ‘How long will it last?’. And I replied: ‘As far as I’m concerned, all my life’. ” The couple has two children: Alessandro and Giorgio.
