A community leader was arrested on Tuesday morning (27) in Rio de Janeiro on suspicion of setting up a monitoring center to watch police officers during operations in the northern part of the capital.
According to the Military Police, agents from the 17th BPM were carrying out an operation in the Vila Joaniza community, on Ilha do Governador, to curb the actions of the Comando Vermelho, when they noticed a drone flying over the region.
After investigations, which included the help of another drone from the PM, the police located the suspect on top of a slab, operating the equipment. A monitoring center with monitors and other electronics was also discovered at the location.
Police suspect that the community leader worked for Comando Vermelho to monitor police actions and the movements of rival factions.

During the operation, whose objective was to clear roads and recover stolen and cloned vehicles used to commit various crimes, the PM also seized five homemade explosive devices and material for making others of the same nature, in addition to drugs and material for packaging the narcotics.
According to the Civil Police, the incident was reported to the 37th DP (Ilha do Governador) and is ongoing.
THE CNN was unable to locate the prisoner’s defense.
