A former Bope military police officer, identified as Ronny Pessanha de Oliveira, was arrested during the “containment operation” launched this Monday (24) by the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police against the Red command advance in the region.
The action mobilizes several Civil Police fronts, including the theft and theft police station (DRF), district police stations of the Capital Police General Department (DGPC) and specialized units of the General Department of Specialized Police (DGPE). To date, 22 search and seizure warrants have been served and two temporary arrest warrants.
According to information from the Civil Police, the operation aims to contain the expansion of the criminal faction in the west of the capital. The offensive, which is supported by the Military Police Intelligence Undersecretary, the Special Police Operations Battalion (BOPE) and Vidigal’s Pacifying Police Unit (UPP), seeks to dismantle the organization’s financial, logistics and operational structure.
Ronny, known as “Skull”, was captured in the Muzema community. He is pointed out as a key piece in armed training of traffickers and in the gang logistics. Investigations also indicate their involvement in money laundering schemes through a property surveillance company used as a facade for illicit operations.
In addition, the former police officer is accused of violently controlling real estate developments in communities such as Itanhangá, Rio das Pedras and Muzema. According to police, he used heavy weaponry to expel residents and take possession of real estate, who were incorporated into the criminal structure.
The “Containment Operation” will continue with raids in strategic communities such as Tijuquinha, Banco Morro and Father John’s Site, to interrupt the flow of money, drugs and weapons that support the faction.
The Civil Police stressed that this is only the first phase of the operation and that new actions will be carried out systematically to prevent the expansion of the criminal faction and ensure more security to the population of the West Zone.
