RJ: Judgment of Navy military personnel for the death of a civil police officer is postponed

The Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice (TJRJ) has postponed the trial of Three Navy military accused of involvement in the death of the Civil Police expert Renato Couto de Mendonça .

Now the jury should take place on June 5 at 13h. The information was confirmed to CNN by the TJRJ.

Bruno Santos de Lima, Daris Fidélis Motta and Manoel Vítor da Silva Soares respond for qualified homicide, procedural fraud and people contest. The popular jury will be held at the 3rd Criminal Court of the state capital.

According to the prosecution, the three would be involved in the execution of the police, whose body was transported in a navy van to the Guandu River after being shot.

The crime occurred in May 2022, when Renato was investigating theft of materials of a work of his property. During this investigation, he located part of the items in a junkyard, where a disagreement began with the accused. The discussion evolved into a confrontation that ended with the expert’s murder.
