RJ: police arrest couple suspected of burying young man’s body in backyard

The Civil Police arrested, this Sunday (26/01), a couple suspected of killing and hiding the body of a 26-year-old girl in Nova Iguaçu, in Baixada Fluminense.

Alan Santos Gusmão Júnior, 26, and Leandra Victória de Souza Fortunato, 22, were arrested in Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of Rio de Janeiro. After investigations by the Baixada Fluminense Homicide Police Station (DHBF), police officers from the 105th DP (Petrópolis) and the 26th BPM found the couple at a friend’s residence. Both were considered fugitives from justice.

According to the police, the two were involved in the death of Larissa dos Santos Silva, 26, whose body was found last Friday (24), buried in the backyard of a house in Nova Iguaçu, Baixada Fluminense. The young woman was last seen on Tuesday (21).

According to DHBF investigations, Alan was married to Leandra and had an extramarital relationship with Larissa. The young woman was stabbed to death. A bricklayer hired by Alan to concrete a construction site told police that the man asked for his help to bury a body, but he refused. Based on his testimony, Alan became the main suspect in the crime, and Leandra Victória was named as a participant.

Given the evidence, the couple had their temporary arrest ordered by the Rio de Janeiro Court for feminicide and concealment of a corpse.
