Since the early hours of Thursday (15), agents of the Victim Child Protection Police Station (DCAV) have served arrest and search and seizure warrants in various regions of the state. The mobilization is part of a wide operation coordinated by the State Secretariat of Public Security aimed at childhood defense.
During the actions, a 54 -year -old man was arrested in the Macacu District in the mountainous region, accused of vulnerable rape.
The operation brings together different police forces and integrates the efforts of Union, states and municipalities. According to the Secretariat, this is a joint strategy that reinforces the commitment of public institutions to the full protection of children and adolescents. Throughout the month, other initiatives are foreseen within the National Campaign to Fight Children’s Sexual Violence.
The action is part of a national movement – the “day D”, promoted by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, which is being executed simultaneously in several Brazilian states throughout May.
The main objective of the operation is to dismantle criminal networks involved in crimes against minors, as well as ensuring the guarantee of the fundamental rights of children and adolescents.
Parallel to repressive actions, the Military Police, through school patrol, conducts educational and preventive activities in state and municipal schools. Activities include lectures, distribution of informative materials and conversations with students, teachers and family members about the risks and forms of preventing sexual violence.
Authorities highlight the importance of society’s participation and guide that reports of suspicious cases may be made anonymously by Dial 100 (Dial Human Rights) or directly to local authorities.
