The state of Rio de Janeiro is on alert due to an increase of 115.6% in the notification of dengue cases, according to data released this Friday (6) by the State Secretary of Health (SES-RJ).
The survey by the Epidemiological Surveillance Coordination points out that, in the first months of the year, between the period from January 1st to April 30th of this year, 2,839 cases were recorded, including three deaths, two in the capital and one in Santo Antônio de Pádua, northwest of the state.
The folder draws attention to the advance of the disease, which already overlaps the calls from previous years. Also according to data analysis by SES-RJ, in the same period, in 2021, 1,317 dengue cases and four deaths were recorded. In 2020, there were 4,435 cases and seven deaths.
The SES reported that the Northwest Region had the highest incidence rate of dengue, but there was an increase in reported cases also in the capital and in the Metropolitan I, North, Mountains, Center-South and Ilha Grande Bay.
The municipalities of Seropédica, Carapebus, Carmo, Cordeiro, Quatis and Vassouras, where the incidence rate is above 50 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, are under attention. In the other regions there was a reduction in the number of cases.
The State Secretary of healthAlexandre Chieppe, reported that due to the significant increase in registered cases and a possible situation of high transmission, the Ministry has reinforced preventive actions such as vector control carried out in the nine regions of the state, with insecticide distribution, monitoring of home visits carried out by the 92 municipalities, sending supplies and hydration chairs, training and face-to-face training, in addition to advising municipal teams in the investigation of suspicious deaths caused by arboviruses, in addition to visits by teams from the Center for Strategic Information on Health Surveillance – CIEVS and epidemiological and environment, among other actions, but we need the help of the population to pay attention to care at home.
“We ask that the population seek prevention and support the actions of the Secretariat, which has been advancing throughout the territory to avoid new cases and deaths”, said Chieppe.
The state health department advises that it is necessary to clean and empty the dishes of plant pots, keep water tanks, cisterns and other water storage containers well closed, avoid leaving bottles and tires in places where they can accumulate water, among other measures.
Ten minutes a week dedicated to eliminating outbreaks of the Aedes aegypti mosquito can save lives.
