RJ will promote vaccination against Covid-19 in schools to increase adherence

Health agents are checking the vaccination records of children in the capital of Rio de Janeiro to see if they have already taken the first dose against Covid-19 and also if they have the rest of the immunization schedule up to date. The guidance of the Municipal Health Department is for professionals to ask questions from parents and inform them about the safety of the vaccine.

In addition to the so-called “active search”, schools will become immunization posts as of this Thursday (10). According to Secretary Daniel Soranz, the idea is to plan so that all units receive the campaign. Students whose parents authorize them will be vaccinated.

Only 263,286 children between five and eleven years old took their first dose against Covid-19 in the city of Rio, which corresponds to less than half of the target audience in the age group. The campaign at the health posts was also extended for another 45 days so that the 296,941 children not yet vaccinated can have access to the infant immunizer.

The situation in the State of Rio is even worse than that of the capital regarding the vaccinated child population: only 10% of the target audience has already taken the first dose against the Coronavirus. In the country, 20.2% of children have already received the first dose of the vaccine.

According to the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga, there will be no shortage of vaccines, since until February 15, the doses necessary to vaccinate all children will be delivered to the states. So far, just over 4 million four hundred thousand (4,176,445) doses of the pediatric vaccine have been applied in Brazil, according to a survey by the agency. CNN.
