The data speak for themselves: Lazza and the couple made up of Mahmood and Blanco are the winners of the record year 2022 in Italy. In fact, FIMI has released the official sales data for the period from 31 December 2021 to 29 December 2022, telling us that the best-selling album of the last 12 months is Sirius di Lazza, at the top of the Top of the Music for 18 weeks, and that the most appreciated single is Chills by Mahmood and Blanco, a song that arrived sixth at the Eurovision Song Contest and first at the Sanremo Festival, a significant detail given that the two artists managed to write history: it only happened once again that the winning song of the Festival was also the best-selling, and that time was the case de In the blue painted blue (Fly) by Domenico Modugno, in 1958.
It remains that, for the third consecutive year, the top ten best-selling albums speak only Italian as well as for the singles, but first things first. On the album front, behind Lazza, here comes second place Taxi Driver by Rkomiwhich was the best-selling record of 2021, and Heavenly blue by Blanco, which in 2021 was in fourth place. Fourth place for We, they, the others of Marrakechfollowed by Irama (The day I stopped thinking), thasup (c@ra++ere s?ec!@le), Paki (Savior), Marco Mengoni (Material (Leather)), Fabri Fibra (Chaos), and Sick Luke (x2). Out of the rankings, but also worth mentioning i Nuclear Tactical Penguins, that place three albums in the high zones – Ouch! in twelfth place, out of the hype, which, despite more than three years have passed, holds its ground in 24th place, e Fake News, which stops at the 32nd but with only one month of sales available -; Harry Styles, who with Harry’s House gets the thirteenth position, ei Måneskin, who, while awaiting the release of rush, are in 14th place with Theater of Wrath – Vol. 1, released in 2020.
And these were the albums. For individuals, behind the first place occupied, as we said, by Chills, we find Shaking of Rhove (second place), Where to dance by Dargen D’Amico (third), e Butterflies of San Giovanni (fourth). The sweet life of Fedez, Tananai and Mara Sattei stops in sixth place, while they also find space in the ranking Bye bye de The list representative in tenth place, Baby Goddamn of Tananai at the ninth, Young Wannabes of the Nuclear Tactical Penguins e Drops by Irama feat. Rkomi. We close with the vinyl ranking, where foreign music excels above all: we find it in first place Harry’s House by Harry Styles, followed by a classic like The Dark Side of the Moon of Pink Floyd and from Virus by Noyz Narcos.
