The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) published a new table with updated minimum road freight prices, with an average readjustment of 7.06% to 8.99%.
Effects vary depending on load type, number of axles, travel distance and type of operation.
The updated values were published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) last Friday night (24th).
According to ANTT, the adjustment was made after a variation of more than 5% was found in the price of diesel oil practiced at the pump at retail stations in the national market in relation to the reference values used in the previous freight table.
ANTT deliberated on the update after the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) released the average price of S10 diesel in the last week, of R$ 7.678 per liter, which means an increase of 13.73% compared to the average price. of the fuel considered in the calculation sheet of the previous table of ANTT, of R$ 6.751 per liter.
The values of S10 diesel oil used at gas stations in the country are published by the ANP in weekly surveys.
By law, ANTT has to readjust the freight table every six months or when the diesel price variation is equal to or greater than 5% — when the trigger mechanism is activated. The last readjustment of the table by the trigger mechanism had been made on March 19.
The National Policy on Minimum Floors for Road Cargo Transport was instituted in 2018 by the Michel Temer government, after a national strike by truck drivers that paralyzed the country’s supply.
The readjustment of the freight table was demanded by truck drivers, after successive increases in fuel prices by Petrobras.
The category claims that the quotation applied in the calculation of the floor was out of date.
This is because the freight table is not updated immediately, because Petrobras’ adjustment refers to the price of fuel at refineries, while the value adopted as a reference in the freight table is the average of prices charged at the pumps of the gas stations, obtained in a weekly survey carried out by the ANP, and not those announced by the oil company.
