Robert Downey Jr. to debut on Broadway in 2024

The New York actor Robert Downey Jr ., 59, will debut on Broadway in New York, on September 5th of this year, in the show “McNeal “, as announced on the Lincoln Center Theater website on Tuesday night (7).

He will play the character Jacob McNeal a great writer who has an estranged son and a new novel, as well as an “unhealthy fascination,” as described in the theater’s advertisement, with artificial intelligence.

The text of the musical is from Pulitzer Prize winner Ayad Akhtar, and the direction is the responsibility of Tony winner Bartlett Sher.

“The new play is a surprising and wickedly intelligent examination of the inescapable humanity – and the increasing inhumanity – of the stories we tell,” says the theater’s announcement.

Other details of the editing, about the plot, other actors in the cast, possible musical compositions, among others, have not yet been disclosed.

In 2024, Robert Downey Jr. received the first Oscar of his career for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film “Oppenheimer”.
