Robert Habeck anointed chancellor candidate ahead of Germany’s February 23 snap election

Economy Minister Robert Hambeck has been anointed chancellor candidate by the Greens for the February 23 election. In the vote held at the party congress in Wiesbaden, Mr. Habeck received a percentage of 96.48%. We remind you that Franziska Brattner and Felix Banasczak are the new leading duo of the Greens, as emerged from the party’s congress. 45-year-old Franziska Brattner, Deputy Minister of Economy in the current government and confidant of Minister Robert Hamboek, comes from the wing of the “realists” (Realos) and received 78.15% of the vote, while her 35-year-old co-president Felix Banaszczak, a federal member of parliament from 2021, belongs to the left side and received rate of 92.88%.
