Robert Pattinson confesses that he has been a very good liar in interviews

An actor’s job is essentially to transform into someone else. In front of the camera they get rid of everything that makes them them in order to convincingly bring fictional characters to life. The extent to which an actor is able to do this has a major influence on the quality of his performances.

This, of course, makes the actors, in general, very adept at telling lies. At least that’s what Robert Pattinson said in a recent interview with the magazine. GQ.

For him, lying is not complicated

The actor confessed that throughout his life, pretending to be someone else has been very easy for him. In his work, this is phenomenal, although in real life, this got him into more than one jam, as his little tricks have happened everywhere, from white lies at school to faking other nationalities at auditions.

For example, when he was in high school, Robert succumbed to peer pressure, like most people at some point, because he wanted to impress his older girlfriend’s friends, so both he and his friends it occurred to them that they would say that Robert dealt drugs.

I had never even seen a drug in my life. But it occurred to me to buy floppy disks, open them, put any powder inside, seal it with some cleaning product so that it smelled of chemicals and seal it. Thus, he showed them to boys aged 15 and 16 and said that he sold drugs. And everyone believed me. So I started to get this kind of reputation that I was crazy and dealing drugs.

Took on many different roles

Another role Robert took on off-screen as a young man was that of an avid skateboarder. He bought the skateboard and the whole thing!

I didn’t really know how to ride a skateboard, but I tried really hard and practiced when I was alone, but when it came time to actually get on one, I was really scared of hurting myself, so I just carried the skateboard around. I purposely banged it against walls so it would have little blemishes and make it look like I had climbed on it. But I never did.

Even at auditions!

Other of his little lies arose more out of necessity. When he started auditioning for acting work, he was candid and said he was English, which immediately disqualified him from certain films, as directors told him they were worried about the accent. The actor’s solution was very simple: pretend that he was from the United States.

He even confessed that he lies in interviews when he doesn’t know what to say, so maybe this is all a lie too. For example, one of the interviews she gave when she was playing Edward from Twilight it has haunted him his entire career, as he said he rarely washed his hair. As Robert told GQthis was completely false.

It’s not a new revelation

The actor had already admitted that he sometimes lies in interviews. When he was promoting the tape Water for elephants, said that he never liked circuses because he witnessed an accident the first time he went to one. According to Robert on that occasion, a clown’s cart exploded with the clown inside and everyone had to leave. Months later, you guessed it, he confessed that it wasn’t true.

Of course, the fact that he confesses that his interviews are full of lies makes us question how much of what he said in that talk with GQ it’s legit, but at least it’s a skill that helps him be an exceptional actor.
