The president of the Central Bank, Roberto Campos Neto, tested positive for Covid-19, informed the autarchy this Saturday morning (8).
“He is asymptomatic and will be quarantined at home, keeping his activities in remote work”, the institution said in a note.
According to the last update of his agenda, released on Friday, Campos Neto had confirmed participation in a videoconference of the Economic Consultative Committee (ECC), promoted by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), on Monday (10).
The country is experiencing a new peak of cases of the disease, with the advancement of the Ômicron variant of the coronavirus in the world.
In the last 24 hours, Brazil registered 181 deaths and 63,292 new cases of Covid-19, the highest number of infections since September 2021, according to data from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) released this Friday (7).
