As part of the cooperation, BitPay acts as a partner responsible for uninterrupted connection with crypto wallets. The company said that users will now be able to buy and play games on Xsolla, such as SMITE and Roblox, using XRP for payments.
“You can use your favorite cryptocurrency to buy, play and enjoy games like never before,” BitPay said in a statement.
Available on all major platforms such as Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Roblox has 65.5 million daily active users, 44% of whom are under 13 years of age. Roblox users spent approximately $773 million on in-game purchases in the first quarter of 2023.
Xsolla has been actively trying to integrate cryptocurrency into its payment system for a long time. In August 2022, the company partnered with platform Coinchange Financial to develop a non-fungible token (NFT) payment solution.
Google recently updated its policy on cryptocurrencies and related products to allow advertising of blockchain-based games using NFTs.
