The goal of the Disney Imagineering Project, which began back in 2018, is to create a fully mobile bipedal robot that could play the role of a specific character.
The development team decided to give their first robot the look of Baby Groot, the Marvel Comics character you’ve seen in Guardians of the Galaxy movies and beyond. True, in the end it turned out to be a cross between baby Groot and an adult.

In the next video, we are shown a bipedal robot that moves in much the same way as the character in the films. Only a thin programming cable is connected to the robot, which gives it greater freedom of movement.
Due to the rich arsenal of animations available to the robot, as well as facial expressions, sometimes it seems that this is not a real robot, but a character created in a 3D modeling program.
This platform is designed to develop characters that can eventually act in films or entertain visitors in theme parks.
