A couple of months ago, a video appeared on the Crypto Leaks website showing a lawyer drinking in a bar, boasting that he “knows the ins and outs of every crypto company” and uses the information for the benefit of the creators of the Avalanche blockchain.
Kyle Roche says in the video that he owns 1% of Ava Labs’ capital and that he provided the company with information about competitors obtained during litigation.
After the video was leaked, the lawyer began to claim that the statements were false, as he was specially drunk with alcohol for the implementation of the “insidious plan.” Ava Labs CEO Emin Gün Sirer, whom Roche repeatedly referred to in videos as a close friend and confidant, denied any relationship with the lawyer and called his statements “blatant nonsense.”
A week after the publication of the scandalous videos, Roche refused to participate in several class-action lawsuits against Tether and Bitfinex, Tron Foundation, HDR Global Trading (BitMEX), and Binance, which are considered direct competitors to Ava Labs. The lawyer hoped that this gesture would be enough for him to continue his career with the company, acting as an advisor on class actions against other well-known cryptocurrency companies.
Last week, a judge excluded Roche Freedman from a class-action lawsuit against cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex and Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin. The court considered that because of the disagreement that had arisen, Roche Freedman would not be able to effectively represent the interests of the plaintiffs.
Roche Freedman management announced that Kyle Roche is no longer with the company and wished him all the best in his future endeavors. The company will be renamed Freedman Normand Friedland. The lawyer himself declined to comment, noting that the company’s statement speaks for itself.
Last year, Roche Freedman sued crypto companies Quantstamp, Status Research, Civic Technologies, HDR Global Trading and Kaydex on behalf of investors. However, the claims were rejected by the court.
