Rock band Muse to release next album as NFT

Popular in the early 2000s, Muse will release their ninth studio album, Will of the People, in a non-fungible token format on the Serenade platform.

The release of the album is scheduled for August 26th. The Serenade marketplace positions itself as an environmentally friendly platform that helps artists monetize their creativity using NFTs. The circulation of tokens from Muse will be 1,000 pieces. For $24.5, the buyer will receive a downloadable version of the album in high-resolution FLAC files containing the digital signatures of the Muse members. In addition, the names of each of the 1,000 buyers will be listed on a special list associated with the release.

“Muse has always had a great appetite for innovation and pushing the boundaries by bringing their music to fans in a variety of ways, so using new technology to enhance the quality of a new album made a lot of sense,” said Serenade CEO Max Shand.

The Serenade platform uses Polygon’s second layer solution to issue NFTs. The company says that Polygon’s proof-of-stake (PoS) mechanism is much more efficient than Ethereum’s current proof of work (PoS) mechanism. According to Shand, the company takes care of all transaction costs for artists and users.
Users don’t need to have a crypto wallet to buy NFTs, people will be able to use debit and credit cards to buy Muse’s digital creations. When a user registers on Serenade, the platform automatically creates a digital wallet on their behalf using the Web3Auth infrastructure authentication solution.

Earlier, the South Korean music platform Koong World received a patent for the use of blockchain and NFT for copyright protection.
