Rock bar owner is killed after intervening in case of harassment in SP

The owner of a bar in the south of São Paulo died after being injured with a pocket knife on Saturday night (15). Carlos “Nenê” Monteiro, 58 years old, owned the Malta Rock Bar, located in the Mirandópolis neighborhood.

According to the victim’s family, the person responsible for the homicide was harassing a woman and Carlos intervened in the action before the crime was committed.

According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the Military Police were called and, upon arriving at the scene, they found the victim dead.

The 34-year-old suspect was restrained at the scene by witnesses until the police arrived and ended up being arrested in the act. The knife used in the crime was seized.

The case was registered as a homicide in the 16th DP, in Vila Clementino.

Carlos’ body has been lying in state since Sunday night (16). The burial is scheduled for 11 am today (17), at the Gethsêmani Cemetery, in Morumbi, a neighborhood in the south of São Paulo.

In a note published on social media, the establishment confirmed what happened and mourned the death of the owner: “forever in our hearts, you will never be forgotten”, says the statement.

Witnesses commented about the crime on social media. “Unfortunately, I was present yesterday. I don’t have words that come close to describing what was and is happening and I can’t even imagine your pain, Lu”, wrote a regular at the bar, mentioning the victim’s companion.

“May the baby rest in peace! Extremely revolting to lose him in these circumstances. Lots of strength to family and friends”, commented another customer.
