Rock Day: See five artists keeping the genre fresh in 2024

In honor of the historic show of Live Aid in 1985 the world of rock fans celebrates, this Saturday (13), the World Rock Day . At the time, the event simultaneously brought more than 150,000 people to Wembley Stadium in London and JFK Stadium in Philadelphia to watch Queen , David Bowie , Phil Collins , Mick Jagger , Tina Turner and more.

Phil Collins was the only artist to have performed on both continents — taking a plane from the UK to the US. He was also the one who, during the festival, suggested the idea of July 13th becoming a landmark to celebrate rock ‘n’ roll. Despite being a global date, the date has special relevance in Brazil thanks to Brazilian rock radio stations, which embraced the celebration.

The genre, which has dictated the direction of world music since Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley, has gone through moments of questioning in recent decades and has found strength in some names that, mixing youth and experience, manage to keep rock fresh in 2024.

To keep you up to date with the latest news on the scene, CNN brought together five artists who released relevant new releases on the rock scene.
