The actor and singer Will Smith 55, surprised the audience at Rock in Rio 2024 Sunset Stage on Thursday night (19). Even though many were unaware of the artist’s talent for music, the American did not disappoint, making an effort to speak in Portuguese and providing a lot of excitement.
In just under 30 minutes, Will Smith performed a series of songs that left no one standing still. Right at the beginning, when he sang “Bad Boys” the artist improvised a rap in Portuguese, showing himself happy to be at Rock in Rio.
During the first 15 minutes of the performance, the artist did not stop for a second to rest, singing songs like “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” , “Men in Black” , “Miami” in addition to following some of the choreographies of his ballet.
Stopping to breathe and drink water, Will Smith took another chance in Portuguese when declaring himself to the crowd, who were already going crazy with the frenetic rhythm of the performance, which mixed rap with electronic beats.
“I’m happy to be here in Brazil,” said the North American artist, proving that he studied the Portuguese language before the performance.
With a real show of fireworks and lights, he also inspired fans to trust themselves, by singing “You Can Make It” accompanied by a choir. “You can do it!” he encouraged in Portuguese.
At the end of the presentation, Will sang “Work of Art” and threw himself into the crowd, thanking countless times for the opportunity to be at the festival.
In a true celebration, the show ended with the stage filled with people who helped the presentation happen, including the DJ, who dressed as Will Smith’s character in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”.
On the fourth day of Rock in Rio 2024, Ferrugem and Gloria Groove also performed on the Sunset Stage. On the World Stage, the line-up included Jão, Joss Stone, Charlie Puth and Ed Sheeran.
