The British singer Ed Sheeran 33, was responsible for closing the Rock in Rio 2024 World Stage on the night of this Thursday (19). Without the support of a band or even a ballet, the artist won over the thousands of people present with an acoustic show.
With just a guitar in his hands and the help of a soundboard positioned next to him, the British singer got the crowd to sing along to some of his greatest hits.
Even though he was the headliner of Brazil’s biggest music festival, Ed Sheeran ensured an intimate atmosphere during his performance, where he made a point of talking to fans, telling stories, thanking them for coming and praising Brazil, between songs.
“Shivers” , “Give Me Love” , “Eyes Closed” , “Don’t” , “Thinking Out Loud” and “Photograph” were some of the hits sung by the British artist.
Halfway through the show, Ed Sheeran did a cover of the song “Love Yourself” of Justin Bieber which the Palco Mundo headliner revealed was originally written for him.
Afterwards, the artist invited the audience to sing with him “Perfect” . The result was a powerful performance, in which the crowd acted in unison as a second voice. At the end of the song, the thousands of people joined together to shout at the top of their lungs: “Ed, I love you.”
Near the end of the performance, Ed Sheeran even sang “Shape of You” and assured the public that would return to Brazil in 2025 with his tour . Before saying goodbye, he still sang “Bad Habits” and made thousands of people get off the ground.
That night, names such as Joss Stone, Charlie Puth, Wil Smith and Gloria Groove also performed on the fourth day of Rock in Rio.
