More than thirty years after its first edition, in 1985, the Rock in Rio received the title of intangible cultural heritage of Rio de Janeiro. The law, sanctioned by Governor Cláudio Castro, was published this Wednesday (16), in the Official Gazette in an extraordinary edition.
In all, there are already eight editions in Rio de Janeiro – in addition to festivals held in Lisbon, Spain and the United States. According to the governor, Rock in Rio “demonstrates its relevance to culture by bringing national and international artists, icons of different styles and generations, and, in addition, it also stimulates our economy.”
Among the artists who have already performed on the event’s stage, names such as Queen, Rod Stewart, Ney Matogrosso, Beyoncé, Rita Lee, among many others.
In this year’s edition, the first since the beginning of the pandemic and which takes place on September 2, 3 and 4, 8, 9, 10 and 11 at the Barra da Tijuca Olympic Park, concerts by Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa are already confirmed. , Green Day, Iron Maiden, ColdPlay, Fall Out Boy, Billy Idol, Capital Inicial and The Offspring.
Last week, the organization released the Rock District and Rock Street attractions.
