At least four people were killed and several others injured last night when rocket-propelled grenades hit oil refineries in northern Syria, according to an NGO.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, three rockets were fired by Russian warships off the coast of Syria and hit a market and oil refineries near the Al Hamaran area, in the Jaraboulus district, in northeastern Aleppo.
According to the same source, rockets fired by Syrian government forces hit an oil refinery in Tarhin, in the eastern part of the province of Aleppo, resulting in huge fires.
The British-based non-governmental organization said 24 people had been injured in the rocket attacks.
The two areas hit are under the control of the Turkish army and Turkish-backed opposition fighters.
Youssef Hamoud, a spokesman for the Ankara-backed Syrian National Army (SNC), confirmed to the German news agency that the two strikes had taken place. He clarified that there are several civilians among the victims.
Turkey is the main defense force of the opposition fighters in Syria, while Russia and Iran are supporting the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the decade-long war.
