The Israeli army announced on Thursday night that it had intercepted a rocket launched by Yemen, shortly after air defense sirens in the downtown area of Jerusalem, as reporters from the French Agency reported. Following the activation of air defense sirens “in many areas of Israel, a rocket launched by Yemen was stopped,” the Army said in a Laconian statement. The Houthi rebels, who control much of Yemen, later confirmed that they had targeted Tel Aviv Airport with a ballistic missile. The rebel movement, backed by Iran, stressed that it carried out the operation “in return for crimes (…) committed by the Zionist enemy against our brothers in the Gaza Strip, as well as in return for its attack”.
