Russia boasted that launched supersonic rockets against Ukrainian forces by its strong coastal defense system Bastion. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced this move as war being waged in Ukraine by order of Vladimir Putin entered its fourth week. It published footage showing the launch of the missiles with warheads weighing 250 kilograms.
Powerful missiles appear to be launched vertically from the launcher before turning into the air and disappearing into the background at high speed. The ministry said in a statement that three Bastion missiles were fired from its coastal defense systems at targets belonging to Ukrainian forces.
He also said that eight Kalibr cruise missiles were fired from a guided missile warship near the Black Sea port of Sevastopol.
“Never annoy a Russian warship”
Posting a video of the high-precision missile launch on its official Facebook page, the ministry wrote: “Never irritate a Russian warship.”
The Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the sea for ground attacks – which have a range of up to 1,500 miles – are used by the Russian Navy to target Ukrainian cities.
It comes just days after the United States confirmed that Russia had used supersonic missiles on “at least one occasion.”
Invading troops are said to have fired the missile “against a stable building at a relatively close distance,” the Pentagon said Tuesday. The Kinzhal rocket was fired at a weapons depot in Ivano-Frankivsk, western Ukraine, on Saturday.
A Russian spokesman said he had destroyed military radio and reconnaissance centers near Odessa. The images that were released with drone footage showing Ukrainian cities being reduced to rubble are heartbreaking.
