Rockstar Games celebrates a very special anniversary this month – 20 years since the release date of Grand Theft Auto III. The game not only paved the way for the open world genre, but made GTA a cultural phenomenon alongside two successive and equally legendary franchises – Vice City and San Andreas. In honor of this event, the company announced the release of a remastered trilogy titled Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. By the end of this year, all three games will appear on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and the Rockstar Games Launcher on PC. And in the first half of 2022, mobile versions for iOS and Android will be released.
The updated versions of the games will receive graphical improvements along with modern gameplay, while retaining the original features. More details of the reissue will appear shortly. Next week, Rockstar will begin removing existing original versions of GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas from digital stores.
