The journalist Rodrigo Bocardi was fired from TV Globo On Thursday (30), after 25 years working at the station and more than a decade presenting the morning newspaper Bom Dia São Paulo.
In a statement, the station stated that the dismissal occurred after Bocardi “breach ethical norms of Globo journalism”. So far, the journalist has not commented on the decision.
At Globo since 1999 and ahead of Bom Dia São Paulo since 2013, the journalist has starred in several remarkable moments – and some controversies – on TV. Remember some:
Michael Jackson death coverage
One of the most striking moments of Bocardi’s career took place in 2009, while he was still a correspondent in New York, US: the death of singer Michael Jackson.
During participation in the Mais Você program, in 2019, Rodrigo Bocardi recalled the occasion and said it was “a super special and striking coverage”.
“In this coverage we ended up giving international holes. We got information and documents in the forum that revealed what was behind the investigation, test results, which no broadcaster, neither American, had access, ”he added.
Accusation of racism
Bocardi was also charged with racism in 2020 after asking a young black man being interviewed if he would “take tennis balls” at the Pinheiros Club. The young man replied that he was actually one of the water polo athletes who train at the sports club.
At the time, the journalist commented on the accusations he received and said he confused the occupation of the young man because he wore a t -shirt similar to the club’s gandulas.
“I practice tennis at Clube Pinheiros. Tennis players do not wear uniforms, but the perpetrators/counters, yes: a t -shirt just like Leonel’s, with whom I had the pleasure of talking today. Seeing him with the T-shirt I always see, every day, sakers/counters of all skin colors, I thought it was one of them, ”he wrote on his social networks. See the post:
Answer to live cursing
A moment of Bocardi during the good morning Sao Paulo viralized in April 2023 after the journalist responded to a man who began to make curses against TV Globo live.
Reporter Hermínio Bernardo was following a confusion in the lilac line of the subway when one of the men involved in the fight began to cursing towards the camera, exclaiming “Going to C*”.
Bocardi reacted and defended the live reporter: “You are too. We have nothing to do with it. The guy is angry and comes discounting. We are showing the problem to everyone. The anger is taking over everyone there. ”

Comparison to Luciano Hang
In May 2023, the journalist also received comments about his green suit chosen to present the newspaper, which was compared to the green and yellow suit worn by Luciano Hang, also known as the “Old of Havan”.
“A clarification for all of you: a lot of people are writing on social networks that I’m looking like an old man there. And I wanted to clarify that if there is someone similar, it is the old man who tried to look like me, ”he joked, noting that he had already used the green suit to present the program on other occasions.

Praia direct newspaper
On January 23 this year, Bocardi presented the Good Morning São Paulo directly from Praia do Ocian, in Praia Grande, on the coast of São Paulo. He joined Rodrigo Nardelli and Luciana Moledas, from TV Tribuna, local branch of Globo.
This was the second time that the morning newspaper has been broadcast from the coastal city in the last four years.
