Roger Ver: Ethereum contributed to the adoption of cryptocurrencies

Blockchain industry veteran and Bitcoin Cash proponent Roger Ver believes Ethereum is doing much more to mainstream crypto adoption than Bitcoin, despite its smaller capitalization.

During Show Me The Crypto on YouTube, Roger Ver emphasized that Ethereum has brought many different innovations to the industry, such as NFTs, smart contracts, scaling solutions, and so on.

“Although Ethereum does not have the largest market capitalization, in my opinion, this cryptocurrency is the leader in increasing the adoption of the industry around the world,” said the founder of Bitcoin.com.

Ver acknowledged that the second cryptocurrency has scaling issues. But he reminded that there are several second-level solutions for Ethereum. In addition, many third-party blockchains are implementing support for the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) so that developers can migrate and deploy their Ethereum-compatible smart contracts on other networks.

Roger Ver also said that initially Ethereum appeared due to the fact that Vitalik Buterin and Bitcoin developers disagreed in the vision of the future of the first cryptocurrency. Buterin advocated the new functionality and scalability of the Bitcoin blockchain. But most of the developers saw BTC as a means of accumulating wealth. Buterin then left and launched Ethereum, which Ver said was the “greatest missed opportunity” for Bitcoin.

“This entire ecosystem could have been built around Bitcoin if it wasn’t for these controversies. The developers simply did not like Vitalik, kicked him out of the project and forced him to create Ethereum,” said a supporter of Bitcoin Cash.

In conclusion, Roger Ver thanked Buterin for creating the second cryptocurrency and stated that it is Vitalik who “leads humanity into the future and makes the world a better place.”

Earlier, Roger Ver was sued to recover a $20 million debt. The founder of Bitcoin.com failed to settle on time on cryptocurrency option trades that expired on December 30, 2022.
