Rollercoaster at an amusement park in the US “stuck” and passengers were hanging upside down for hours – “There was a mechanical failure”

Eight passengers were left hanging in the air when a mechanical failure stopped the roller coaster at the Forest County Festival in Wisconsin, the area’s fire department said.

“There was a mechanical failure with the roller coaster that stuck in the upright position. The amusement park was recently inspected by the state,” said the fire chief. The rescue operation involved ten fire engines, nine ambulances and 50 people from three counties.

Videos on social media showed a rescuer climbing on the side of the Fireball while the passengers were upside down. An off-duty firefighter who happened to be at the park advised her fire Department of the city about possible rescue options. Due to the great height of this particular game, they were asked to help with special equipment rescue teams. Passengers waited 45 minutes for a truck with a ladder and a 30m platform to arrive.

The first passenger returned to solid ground at 3:20 p.m., about two hours after emergency crews were dispatched, while the last passenger reached the ground at 5:01 p.m. – more than three hours… Nine civilians received medical treatment from emergency services and one person was taken by ambulance to Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital.
