The Romans (and perhaps not only) will certainly remember that theater that gladdened the Capitoline evenings with its irresistible cabaret shows. Here, on the historic stage of Lando Fiorini’s “Puff”, the biggest names in comedy performed, from Enrico Montesano a Maurizio Mattioli, gives Leo Gullotta a Lino Banfi, before lowering the curtain in 2019 and leaving a gap that is difficult to fill.
But, as they say, “when a door is closed, a door always opens”; in this case, a door that leads into 700 square meters of genuine aromas and flavors and which, since last October 14, is the entrance to the third headquarters in Ercoli 1928, inaugurated in the heart of Trastevere after the now iconic addresses in the Prati and Parioli districts.
The story of Ercoli 1928
The story of Ercoli begins, you can guess from the name, almost a century ago when in 1928 it was born in Prati as neighborhood shop over the years to become one of the best delis in Rome, a reference point for lovers of good food and drink. Since 2016, with the opening of the second address at the Parioli, the sign has evolved giving ample space to the kitchen, without however distorting its identity, always aimed at enhance each ingredient, every single excellence that inhabits the greedy counters and rich shelves, the result of careful selections from small and large producers. No borders, no barriers between shop and restaurant: going to Ercoli means shopping (from morning until late evening, 7 days a week) or sitting and eating between pastas and preserves, cheeses and cold cuts as far as the eye can see, sipping a bubble or a glass of wine.
Ercoli Trastevere
Delicatessen, cheese shop, gastronomy, fish products, restaurant and cocktail bar: there are many souls of Ercoli Trastevere, located in various rooms and new corners to discover (such as the bakery that produces pizzas and hot breads, the large cafeteria with different blends, the grocery store and the chocolate shop). From the kitchen in plain sight, the menu is a tribute to the taste of tradition as well as a continuous exaltation of the genuineness of the various (all) products for sale, interpreted by the executive chef Andrea Di Raimo and by the chef Luigi Ubertini; to this is also added a fascinating Drink Theatre – once the stage of the theater (see above) – whose proposal ranges from the great classics to the “Tini” menu, signature cocktails in a Martini-style cup to be enjoyed from aperitif to after dinner (but also for lunch, why not).
