Roosters and chicks with fighting sign are seized on SC highway

This Saturday (26), six roosters and three chicks were seized in a suspicious situation by the Military Highway Police, on the SC-390 highway, KM 205.350, which connects the South of Santa Catarina and Serra to the West of the state.

According to the Military Highway Police, the roosters were wrapped in bags and fabrics, with their wings and legs tied and showed injuries and signs of being used in cockfighting. The chicks were inside a cardboard box.

The animals were found inside a car. The garrison ordered the 56-year-old driver of the vehicle to stop, who stopped only more than 50 meters after the indicated location.

The highway patrol officers carried out a vehicle search and found the animals.

Plastic and metal spurs, medicine bottles and syringes were also found in the vehicle, which according to the Police are commonly used in fights.

The driver and two other passengers, aged 80 and 28, after being questioned, gave divergent versions about the origin and ownership of the animals, claiming that they would be delivered close to the Paiquerê Dam, in Campo Belo do Sul (SC).

The animals, seized materials and those involved were taken to the Lages Police Station.

The Integrated Agricultural Development Company of Santa Catarina (Cidasc) and the Military Environmental Police (PMA) of Lages were informed about the case.
