Chikhanchin said that crimes in the field of corruption are committed today, “as a rule, with cryptocurrency and through the use of affiliated persons.” Putin specified whether the use of cryptocurrency has increased in such calculations, to which he received a positive answer.
To combat this, Rosfinmonitoring, together with the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General’s Office, has already worked out the methodology, Chikhanchin told the president. According to him, the “decision points” were allocated – the place where the distribution of funds is underway – and commercial banks were oriented to the formed model of the corrupt official. According to Chikhanchin, it worked, banks began to report such transactions more often.
In addition, financial exploration, together with VTB and the Bank of Russia, improve the “Transparent blockchain” project, which allows you to control and monitor cryptocurrency operations, the head of the agency said.
“In total, in corruption, we work in about 400 cases, we participate actively. The amount of damage so far is what has only been identified with us is about 13.5 billion rubles. And about 5 billion has already been returned to the state, ”Chikhanchin said.
He also noted that in the work on drug trafficking and financial income, foreign crypto -rhins and drop -off cards are now actively used. In this regard, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB and the Investigative Committee, Rosfinmonitoring “corrected the model of the behavior of drug dealers and brought it to banks.” It also brought the results: only in 2024 the number of reports on illegal activity increased by about six times, Chikhanchin reported.
He also said that cryptocurrencies are actively used in Russia and in cross -border financial flows. Along with gold, they became an alternative form of calculation, said the head of financial exploration.
