Roskomnadzor has entered 1,768 domain site addresses into the ALERT database of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The press service of the department told about it.
Roskomnadzor characterizes these sites as persistent copyright infringers, on which “information containing objects of copyright and (or) related rights has been repeatedly and unlawfully posted.”
For each of the resources, the Moscow City Court made decisions to restrict access on a permanent basis in Russia in accordance with Article 15.6 of Federal Law No. 149-FZ “On Information, Information Technology and Information Protection”.
Domain addresses were added to the database in October-December 2020 as part of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Roskomnadzor and WIPO in September 2020.
The ALERT database is a mechanism that allows WIPO Member States and their institutions to share lists of copyright infringing sites in order to discourage advertisers from placing advertisements on such sites.
Established in 1967, the World Intellectual Property Organization is a self-financed UN agency. WIPO is headquartered in Geneva (Switzerland) with 193 states.
