The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media, following the results of the audit, announced the lifting of restrictions on the work of the social network Twitter. The agency will no longer slow down traffic on fixed Internet networks, but will continue to slow it down on mobile devices.
“The check showed that Twitter moderators removed over 91% of prohibited information. At the moment, 563 messages with child pornography, narcotic and suicidal content, calls for minors to participate in uncoordinated mass events, as well as extremist and other materials prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation remain unreleased out of 5.9 thousand prohibited materials identified by the department, ” the message of Roskomnadzor.
Earlier, Twitter sent a letter to Roskomnadzor, which notes that the company fully shares the actions of the department to combat prohibited content and promised to remove all illegal information. Roskomnadzor, for its part, said that in order to completely remove the restrictions, it is necessary to remove all prohibited content within 24 hours from the receipt of the request.
In addition, the department said that they discovered facts of posting prohibited materials on Facebook and YouTube and threatened to slow down traffic if these services did not take appropriate measures.
