Roskosmos is losing contracts, and SpaceX is getting new ones. NASA allocates $3.5 billion to Elon Musk’s company for three manned space flights

The scandalous story with the British company OneWeb turned out to be the loss of an important client for Roscosmos, while the North American competitor, SpaceX, on the contrary, is doing well: Elon Musk’s company has signed a new contract with NASA for three manned flights to the ISS. The contract value is $3.5 billion.

Under the contract, the Crew-7, Crew-8 and Crew-9 missions will be completed, the first of which may take place at the end of 2023. NASA notes that this is not the limit: more astronauts may be sent into space in the future.

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration said in a statement that SpaceX will provide NASA with “a seamless capability to send humans to the International Space Station.” The last manned flight to the ISS using a SpaceX rocket under the previous contract between NASA and Elon Musk’s company – Crew-6, should take place in early 2023.
