The United Aircraft Corporation, a part of Rostec, demonstrated for the first time the updated S-70 Okhotnik drone with a flat jet nozzle. According to the company, it has become less visible to radar stations. In addition, a new ground command post is being created for the drone.
The presentation was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia Alexei Krivoruchko, who noted that the “Okhotnik” combines the advanced achievements of enterprises and organizations of the domestic defense industrial complex, so the drone is not inferior to foreign counterparts. Technologies that are being tested on prototypes of the machine will be used to create other promising aviation systems.
According to the head of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, the key feature of the new Okhotnik is the flat engine nozzle, which reduces radar signature. Together with the new ground control center, this should significantly increase the capabilities of the device.
The S-70 “Okhotnik” has been created by the Sukhoi company since 2011. This is a promising platform on the basis of which a whole family of unmanned systems will be created. In August 2019, the experimental prototype made its first flight lasting 20 minutes. In the same year, his first flight took place together with the fifth generation Su-57 fighter.
