Rostec exoskeletons are already being tested at power facilities: they reduce the load and the risk of injury

The Russian company “Rosseti”, which is the operator of electrical networks, yesterday, December 27, received from the state corporation “Rostec” the first batch of industrial exoskeletons “RT – Trusted Platforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan” of domestic development – this was officially announced on the website of “Rostec”. This hardware was created to protect the health of employees who perform tasks with increased physical activity, work with bulky equipment, or are forced to work in a confined space.

“When lifting a load in such equipment, the specialist feels only half of the weight. The exoskeleton uses composite materials and 3D printed parts. The samples have already been tested under realistic conditions. Now the stage of pilot implementation and testing is underway, the results of which will be used to make decisions on scaling the project, ”said Oleg Yevtushenko, executive director of Rostec.

The creators of this exoskeleton stated that their development does not limit the freedom of actions of employees when performing various jobs, plus the hardware elements can be used with standard overalls. And since the load on the musculoskeletal system is noticeably reduced due to the exoskeleton, the risk of injuries at work also decreases, which is quite important in certain areas. For example, these complexes will be tested in two branches of the Rosseti company for testing grounding of overhead power transmission lines, clearing vegetation in clearings and transporting heavy materials and tools.

The developers of the Russian exoskeleton said that the current testing phase will be completed in the first quarter of 2022, after which a decision will be made to expand the areas of activity in which the development can be successfully integrated.
