In 2024, mass production of domestic 5G base stations should begin in Russia. This was announced by the head of the state corporation Rostec Sergey Chemezov, who, during the visit of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to the Voronezh concern Sozvezdie, presented the latest developments for cellular networks of the fourth and fifth generations.
The Prime Minister was shown a working model of a domestic 5G base station, which is being developed by Spektr. The equipment is built on the Russian electronic component base. Chemezov noted that work in this direction is proceeding in accordance with the roadmap for the development of 5G in Russia. Domestic equipment for fifth-generation networks is planned to be tested in pilot zones as early as next year, and in 2024 deliveries to the first customers, including mobile operators and large manufacturing companies, are expected.
Among other interesting domestic developments that the Prime Minister got acquainted with was the R45F(N) base station, designed to access fourth generation networks (4G/LTE) with support for VoLTE, NB-IoT, MCPTT, eMBMS. This is the only Russian-made station approved for the construction of new and modernization of existing communication networks, starting from 2023. DMR radio stations for organizing professional radio communications with protection from direct listening and the Groza tropospheric communication station, which provides communication in hard-to-reach areas, were also demonstrated.
