Rostelecom employees officially announced the creation of a new competence center, which will develop new software and migrate existing software for server hardware, assembled on the basis of Elbrus-2000 processors. Thanks to the work of these specialists, it will be much easier for Russian organizations to seamlessly switch to domestic developments, transferring all their software to Elbrus in the foreseeable future. At the same time, the developers promise the minimum impact of this transition on the business capabilities of users.
This need for software migration arose against the background of the growing need for Russian companies to become independent of foreign solutions and developments by switching to domestic hardware and software. But, unfortunately, when trying to switch to Russian processors and systems, companies are faced with quite serious difficulties – the software necessary for doing business simply does not work on the Russian platform. The software needs to be modified or rewritten again, but there are not enough specialists who are able to do this.
In order to solve this problem, Rostelecom created a new competence center, which has all the necessary equipment for developing and testing software based on full-fledged servers. The operating system “Elbrus” is installed on this hardware platform for standard tasks and Astra Linux Special Edition for those systems that require restrictions on information processing. It is important to note that absolutely all servers are already equipped with a hardware and software module for trusted loading, plus there are certificates from FSTEC and FSB – thanks to this, it is possible to create solutions for infrastructures of any access class.
In addition, if a company is interested in testing the required software, it can send a list of software to the new center so that Rostelecom specialists can install the software, test it and give recommendations on further actions. If necessary, these same developers can create new software for specific tasks of the company.
