From October 1st, New York gains another sky-high attraction. THE 70th floor of the skyscraper 30 Rockefeller Plaza which is already home to the observation deck Top of the Rock inaugurates the Skylift which brings visitors to around 275 meters high with unobstructed views of the city.
The attraction functions as an outdoor revolving platform and is three floors above the highest level of the skyscraper, that is, about nine meters above the 70th floor. Once raised, the platform rotates 360º and lasts five minutes. Up to 13 people can enjoy the attraction at a time.
Made of fiberglass that resembles marble, the platform also has LED lights that should illuminate the New York skyline, an experience that can be customized on specific dates and holidays.
Tickets for the Skylift are now on sale at official website put $35 (around R$190) and are a complement to regular observation deck tickets, which cost between US$40 and US$61 for adults over 13 years old (between R$217 and R$332).
The attraction is already included in VIP and VIP Rock passes, which can cost US$160 (R$871) and US$200 (R$1,090). The first includes a guided tour of Top of the Rock, fast track entry, access to The Beam attraction and photo package; The second modality, in addition to these items, includes a guided tour of Rockefeller Center and access to one of the hidden gardens on the rooftop.
The Beam
In December last year, Top of the Rock had opened the The Beam an attraction 240 meters high in which visitors recreate the iconic photograph “Lunch Atop a Skyscraper”, from 1932. It is an interactive photographic experience on the 69th floor of the building.
Tourists are secured into seats with a seat belt on a beam that rises 12 feet above the observation deck area. The attraction rotates 180 degrees, providing privileged views of New York, including Central Park.
Last summer, there was also the opening of the Welcome Gallery, an immersive theatrical show that presents the history of Rockefeller Center.
