Rough sea, Fano: a man drowns, one son is missing, the other serious

The strong wind that hit central Italy in recent days, as well as storms and hailstorms, obviously shakes the sea, which was rough this morning as well. In particular on the beach of Gimarra in Fano, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region, the red flag was raisedwhen a family from Saltara, in the hinterland, arrived at the beach very early.

A 46-year-old man shortly after breakfast he decides to take a bath with his two children, one 13 years old and the other 8, and a friend of the boys, also 13 years old. But the high waves and the strong current put them in difficulty. It was around 8.30: the friend immediately realizes that the situation is dangerous, he miraculously manages to return to shore and raise the alarm, together with the boys’ mother, but it was already too late. The father’s body was near the rocks, he was rescued but the conditions were immediately desperate, he died shortly after.

The 8-year-old boy is missing, and recovery operations are hampered by difficult sea conditions. The older boy was instead ventilated in the water and then brought ashore for the first resuscitation maneuvers of the Bagno Crida lifeguards, before being transferred by air ambulance to the regional hospital of Torrette di Ancona. His condition would be serious. The naval and air vehicles of the Harbor Master’s Office and Coast Guard, as well as the sub Nuclei of the Fire Brigade and Coast Guard, merged into the area.
