A new preview of the second season of “Round 6” inviting the public to the game was released by Netflix on Monday (30). The new episodes arrive on the platform later this year, on December 26th.
“It’s time to get back to the game,” wrote the streaming service in the video’s caption.
The new season is set three years after Player 456 won the Lula Game. He gives up on going to the United States and returns with a new purpose. Gi-hun enters the mysterious game of survival once again and begins another life-and-death competition, with new participants seeking the 45.6 billion won prize.
In a statement about the new season, Hwang Dong-hyuk director, screenwriter and executive producer of “Round 6”, announced some news. According to him, Seong Gi-hun (played by Emmy winner Lee Jung-jae seen in “The Acolyte“), who promised revenge at the end of the first season, is back in the game.
“But will he be able to get revenge? Once again, the leader appears to be a formidable opponent,” he declared.
According to what was previously announced by Netflix, the series will end in its third part which has also won a release forecast for 2025 .
Released in 2021, the first season of “Round 6” conquered the world by following a group of people in desperate search of money who enters into a series of children’s games with deadly results. The series also made history at the Emmy Awards, becoming the first non-English-language production to be nominated for the Best Drama award, in 2022.
The success of the series led to the creation of a spin-off reality show, “Round 6: The Challenge “, which had the participation of the Brazilian Phil Cain finalist of the competition.
