RS: Brazilians are arrested with 191 Mounjaro pens on international flight

Two women, 28, were arrested on the night of last Saturday (19), after landing PORNING 191 MOUNJARO pens injectable used by type 2 diabetics, at Salgado Filho International Airport, in Porto Alegre, on a flight from Lisbon, Portugal.

According to the IRS, Brazilian women are from Goiânia, and reported residing in London, England.

The drug has been approved by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) since September last year, but for import is necessary the authorization of the Ministry of Health.

“The importation of medicines in Brazil is subject to rules of legislation, depends on whether the destination is for personal or commercial use and if there is registration in the country. For personal use, depending on the type of medicine, it is possible to import without registration, provided that they do not contain controlled substances and are for their own consumption, not for commercialization,” said Erno Edison Cunha, head of the Salgado Filho Custom Surveillance Section

With one of the passengers were found 95 pens of the medicine. With the other, there was another 96, totaling 191 units of 15mg each.

When asked about the illegal transport of drugs, the two claimed to be unaware of Brazilian rules because they live abroad.

They were filed in the act and taken to the Federal Police for the legal proceedings, being available to the Federal Court.
