The Rio Grande do Sul Court maintained, this Monday (29), the temporary arrest of two men suspected of involvement in the robbery at a hotel, which resulted in the death of two professors from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM).
Fabiano de Oliveira Fortes and Felipe Turchetto worked at the Department of Forest Sciences at the Center for Rural Sciences at UFSM.
The crime took place last Thursday (25), in a hotel in the city of Mato Castelhano (RS), about 300 kilometers from the capital Porto Alegre.
The victims, along with another teacher, were accompanying a group of students to an academic activity.
“Two individuals entered the hotel as guests and, at around 1:30 am, they came down and held everyone who was in the hall and restaurant hostage,” said detective Diogo Ferreira, responsible for the case.
During the action, everyone was tied with seals on their feet and hands, according to the delegate.
After investigations, the victims recognized the probable perpetrators, which resulted in the request for temporary arrest made by the police on Friday (26).
The case remains under investigation.
