The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued this Monday (6) a new red alert – of great danger – for storms in the southeast region of Rio Grande do Sul. The state has already been punished for days by heavy rains, which resulted in the deaths of at least 83 people.
The alert is valid until noon next Tuesday (7). According to Inmet, the forecast is for rainfall of more than 100 millimeters per day, in addition to winds of more than 100 km/h and hail. There is “great risk of damage to buildings, electricity cuts, damage to plantations, falling trees, flooding and disruption to road transport”.

Other alerts
The state has two other meteorological risk alerts issued by Inmet. Both are also valid until 12pm tomorrow.
One of the warnings is storm danger, with rainfall varying between 30 and 60 mm/h or 50 and 100 mm/day. Intense winds (60 to 100 km/h) and hail are forecast. The southeast and southwest of the state are the areas that are expected to be affected.
The other warning is of potential danger for a storm, with accumulated rainfall expected between 20 and 30 mm/h or up to 50 mm/day, in addition to intense winds (40 to 60 km/h) and hail.
The areas that may be affected are the southwest, southeast and central west of the state.
